What is the Present Perfect Tense?

The Present Perfect tense is a way to talk about actions that have happened in the past but are still important today or have effects now. It helps us connect the past with the present.

How Do We Form the Present Perfect?

To form the Present Perfect, we use the word 'have' or 'has' and the past participle form of the main verb.

  • 'Have' is used with I, you, we, and they

Examples:

If I say:

  • 'I have eaten' - This means I ate at some point before now, and it matters now because I'm not hungry anymore.
