When Firefighters Get a Call
Firefighters are heroes who help keep people safe from fires and other emergencies. When they get a call, here’s what happens step by step:
- The Call Comes In: Firefighters at the fire station have a special device called a radio that lets them know when there’s an emergency. It can be a fire, someone stuck in an elevator, or another kind of danger.
- Getting Ready: When they hear the call, firefighters quickly jump into action! They wear protective gear like helmets and jackets to keep them safe from heat and smoke.
- Jumping Into the Truck: Next, they hop into their big red fire truck. The sirens go on, and lights flash to help clear the way. This way, other cars know there's an emergency!
- Driving to the Scene: Firefighters go very fast to where they are needed. They must follow all traffic rules but hurry because time is very important.
- Assessing the Situation: When they arrive, firefighters first look to see what is happening. They check if people are safe and if the fire is big or small.
- Putting Out the Fire: If there is a fire, they use hoses to spray water and special tools to help put it out. They work together, communicating and helping each other.
- Helping People: Firefighters also check if anyone needs help getting out of a building or getting medical assistance. They always make sure people are safe.
- Going Back: After everything is safe, they pack their gear, get back in the truck, and head back to the station, where they prepare for the next call.
So, when firefighters get a call, they have a very exciting and important job to do to help people and keep everyone safe!
