Water Play Time!

Hi! We are going to play with water on a small table in the garden. An adult will help you. Keep your eyes on the grown up and have fun!

What we need

  • Shallow tray or basin
  • Small cups, spoons, funnels
  • Small waterproof toys, plastic animals, or little boats
  • Towel, hat, sunscreen, and a change of clothes

Step by step

  1. Ask an adult to put a towel under the table and bring the tray.
  2. The adult fills the tray a little bit with water. Not too deep.
  3. Pick a cup or spoon. Scoop and pour slowly.
  4. Try pouring from one cup to another. Watch the water flow.
  5. Float a toy boat and blow gently to make it move.
  6. When play is finished, help dry the toys and wipe the table.

Simple games to try

  • Fill and dump: move water from one cup to another.
  • Sink or float: guess which toy will float, then test it.
  • Pour race: who pours without spilling?
  • Bubble play: add a tiny bit of soap and use a cup to blow bubbles.

Why this is great for you

Playing with water helps your hands get strong, teaches pouring and words like "more" and "less", and is a calm or silly way to learn.

Safety rules

  • An adult stays very close the whole time.
  • Keep the water shallow. No running near the table.
  • Use sunscreen and a hat if it is sunny.
  • Have a towel and dry clothes ready for afterwards.

Have fun! Splash gently and share your toys.
