Fire engines get water from special places so they can help put out fires. Here are the steps to understand:
- Fire Hydrants: When a fire engine needs water, it often stops at a big, yellow or red pipe called a fire hydrant. This is found on the streets in our neighborhoods.
- Connecting Hoses: The firefighters take long hoses and connect them to the fire hydrant. These hoses are very strong and can carry a lot of water.
- Turning On the Water: They turn a special handle on the hydrant to let the water flow out. It goes rushing through the hoses!
- Spraying Water: Finally, the firefighters spray the water from the hoses to put out the fire and keep everyone safe.
Sometimes, if they can’t find a hydrant nearby, they might get water from a big lake, pond, or even a swimming pool! Fire engines are super smart and know how to get water so they can help us!
