What are emergency vehicles?
Emergency vehicles are special cars and trucks that help people. They go fast when someone needs help.
Examples
- Fire truck — big and red. It helps put out fires.
- Ambulance — a car that helps sick or hurt people and takes them to the hospital.
- Police car — helps keep people safe and helps when there is trouble.
How to know one is coming
- They flash bright lights (blue, red, or yellow).
- They make loud siren sounds like "wee-oo" or "woo-woo."
What you should do
- Stop and look for a grown-up.
- Hold the grown-up's hand and move to the side of the road.
- Stay back and let the emergency vehicle go by.
- Do not run after or touch the vehicle.
Emergency vehicles help people — they are like helpers and heroes. You can wave from a safe place to say thank you!
