Hi friend! An airplane is like a big metal bird that flies in the sky.

Here are some easy things to know:

  • Wings - big flat parts that help the airplane go up and stay up, like when you flap your arms.
  • Engines - they make the airplane go very fast so it can lift off the ground.
  • Pilot - the person who sits in the front and drives the airplane.
  • Windows - you can look out and see clouds and places below.

What happens when you ride an airplane:

  1. You get on and sit in your seat.
  2. You buckle your seatbelt so you are safe.
  3. The airplane goes fast on the ground, then it lifts up into the sky. This is called takeoff.
  4. It flies above the clouds where it is smooth and quiet.
  5. When it is time to land, the airplane comes back down to the ground.

Some extra fun: clouds look like cotton or pillows. You can wave at the pilot or point out little houses and cars when you look down.

Remember to keep your seatbelt on when the light says so and listen to the grownups. Airplanes help people go to faraway places fast!
