Meet the Sea Turtle

The sea turtle is an ocean traveller. It has a hard shell like a little house on its back and strong flippers like big, flat arms for swimming.

  1. What it looks like
It has a round shell, a flat face, and four flippers. The shell keeps it safe, like a coat of armor.
  2. How it moves
The flippers work like paddles. The sea turtle swims slowly and glides through the water.
  3. Where it lives
Sea turtles live in the warm ocean. Sometimes they come to the beach to lay eggs in the sand.
  4. Baby turtles
Baby turtles hatch from eggs on the beach. They crawl to the water and start swimming out to sea.
  5. What they eat
Some sea turtles eat sea grass and plants. Others eat jellyfish and small sea animals.
  6. How we can help
Keep beaches clean, never leave trash, and watch turtles from far away. That helps them stay safe.

Fun things to do:

  • Draw a sea turtle and color its shell.
  • Pretend to be a sea turtle: lie on your tummy and move your arms like flippers.
  • Ask a grown-up to read a short story about baby turtles and the beach.

Remember: always be gentle and watch turtles from a safe distance so they can live happily in the ocean.
