Let’s wash the farm animals!
We will make the animals clean and have fun. Ask a grown-up to help.
What we need
- A shallow bowl or small tub with warm water (grown-up checks the temperature)
- A little bit of mild soap or baby shampoo
- A soft washcloth or small sponge
- A cup for rinsing or a small pitcher
- A towel for drying
Steps
- Put a towel on the floor so the water stays on the towel.
- Grown-up makes the water warm, not hot.
- Put a tiny drop of soap in the water. Mix with your hand to make a few bubbles.
- Place one plastic animal in the water. You can name it first.
- Use the washcloth to gently scrub the animal. Ask your grown-up to help with small or hard-to-reach spots.
- Rinse the animal with the cup of clean water or with the grown-up holding it under running water.
- Put the animal on the towel to dry. Pat it with the towel until it is not drippy.
- Count each animal as it dries and put them in a row. Great job!
Make it fun
You can sing a short song while you wash. Try this little rhyme to the tune of a short clap: "Wash, wash, wash the cow. Scrub its back and belly now." Keep it simple and silly.
Safety tips
- Always have a grown-up nearby to help and watch.
- Do not put tiny toys in the mouth. If an animal has small parts or holes, tell the grown-up.
- Do not put toys in the microwave or dishwasher unless the grown-up says it is safe.
- Use warm, not hot, water. Grown-ups should check the temperature.
Now you are ready! Have fun cleaning the animals and playing farmer.
