Hello! Lets learn about germs. Germs are tiny, tiny bits you cannot see. Sometimes germs can make you feel sick. Other times they do not. We can do small things to stay healthy.

What germs are (very short)

Germs are like invisible little bugs. They can live on hands, toys, and noses. But grown-ups help keep them away.

Easy steps to be a Germ Buster

  • Wash your hands — this is the best way to get germs off. Do it like this:
    1. Turn on water and get hands wet.
    2. Put soap on your hands.
    3. Rub your hands together all over: front, back, between fingers. Keep rubbing while you sing a short song. Try singing Happy Birthday two times, or count to 20 slowly.
    4. Rinse the soap off.
    5. Dry with a towel.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes — use a tissue or your elbow. Throw the tissue away and wash hands.
  • Dont put toys in your mouth unless a grown-up says it is okay. Ask a grown-up to clean toys sometimes.
  • Keep cuts clean — tell a grown-up if you get a cut so they can help clean it and put a bandage on.

Fun little game

Make washing hands a game. Pretend youre scrubbing away invisible germs like little stickers. Say "Bye-bye germs!" when you rinse.

Great job, Germ Buster! Tell a grown-up if you are worried or if you feel sick. They will help you.
