Three simple rephrases

  • The tram speeds along the tracks; no cars block its path.
  • A tram races on the rails with the road clear of cars.
  • The tram moves quickly on the tracks, and there aren't any cars in the way.

How I changed it (step-by-step):

  1. Changed the verb 'runs' to other strong verbs: 'speeds', 'races', or 'moves quickly' so it sounds lively.
  2. Swapped 'rails' for 'tracks' in one version because they mean the same and sometimes sound nicer.
  3. Reworded 'No cars are in the way' to give different rhythms: 'no cars block its path', 'the road clear of cars', or 'there aren't any cars in the way'.

Tip: Read each one out loud and pick the one that sounds the most fun to you.
