Hello!
Space is like a giant room with no walls and no edges. It goes on and on and we haven’t found a wall or finish line. That means it just keeps going.
Most of that room is empty — like a very big empty playground. But sprinkled all over are things: stars, planets, moons, rocks, and dust.
- Stars are very hot, bright balls of fire. Our Sun is a star.
- Planets are big round places that go around stars. Earth is a planet where we live.
- Moons, asteroids, and comets are other things floating around in space.
Space is very, very far away. Even the nearest star (after the Sun) is so far we can’t drive there. We use big telescopes and rockets to look and learn about it.
Don’t worry — Earth is safe where we live. If you want to learn about space, you can:
- Look at the moon and stars at night.
- Draw pictures of planets and rockets.
- Ask questions and read picture books about space.
Space is big and full of wonder. It’s okay to be curious — keep looking up!
