Bathroom Cleaning Checklist (for a 10-year-old)

Print this page and use the checkboxes as you finish each task. Ask an adult if you need help with strong cleaning products.

Before you start — Gather supplies (ask an adult first)

  • Gloves (rubber) — wear them to protect your hands
  • All-purpose cleaner or bathroom cleaner (mild) or white vinegar
  • Glass cleaner or vinegar for mirrors
  • Toilet cleaner (ask an adult) or baking soda + vinegar for stains
  • Scrub brush for the tub and tiles, toilet brush
  • Microfiber cloths or paper towels
  • Sponge and/or scrub pad
  • Mop or floor cloth and bucket
  • Trash bag
Safety tips:
  • Always ask an adult before using bleach or strong cleaners.
  • Never mix bleach and vinegar (or ammonia) — dangerous fumes can form.
  • Work from top to bottom so dirt falls to the floor last.

Daily quick clean (5–10 minutes)

Weekly deep clean (30–45 minutes)

Do these tasks once a week. Follow the order below so cleaning is easiest.

  1. Declutter (3–5 min): Remove items from counters, tub/shower, and floor. Put dirty towels in the laundry.
  2. Dust and cobwebs (2–3 min): Wipe light fixtures, vents, and corners with a cloth or duster.
  3. Apply cleaners (5 min): Spray tub/shower and tiles with bathroom cleaner. Spray toilet bowl with toilet cleaner. Let sit for a few minutes to work.
  4. Clean mirrors and glass (3–4 min): Spray mirror cleaner or vinegar and wipe until streak-free with a microfiber cloth or paper towel.
  5. Scrub sink and counter (5 min): Use sponge and cleaner to scrub sink, faucet, and counter. Rinse and wipe dry.
  6. Scrub bathtub/shower (7–10 min): Scrub tub walls, floor, and shower doors. Rinse thoroughly. Use a scrub brush for soap scum.
Tip: For tough spots, sprinkle baking soda, spray vinegar, wait 5 min, then scrub.
  7. Clean the toilet (5 min): Scrub inside the bowl with a toilet brush and cleaner, wipe the seat, lid, and outside with disinfecting wipes or cleaner. Rinse/wipe dry.
  8. Clean floor last (5–7 min): Sweep up hair and dust, then mop or wipe the floor from far corner toward the door. Let floor dry before using.
  9. Empty trash and replace items (2–3 min): Put trash bag in the can, return toiletries and clean towels.
