Corrected sentences

Here are two good ways to write the idea:

  • A toucan is proud of its large, bright beak.
  • A toucan's beak is large and bright. The toucan is proud of it.

What was wrong and why (simple steps)

  1. Capital letter: The second sentence started with "it's" but the first letter should be a capital: "It's". Every sentence needs a capital at the start.
  2. It's vs its: "It's" means "it is" or "it has". "Its" (no apostrophe) shows something belongs to it. In your sentence the beak belongs to the toucan, so we need "its" (no apostrophe).
  3. Who is proud? The phrase "it's proud of it" sounds like the beak is proud of the beak. That is odd. It is clearer to say the toucan is proud of its beak.

Quick examples

  • It's raining. (means It is raining.)
  • The dog wagged its tail. (the tail belongs to the dog)

Small practice

Fix this: "the cat chased it's tail."

Answer: "The cat chased its tail."

Nice work! Keep practicing and remember: capital letters at the start, and use "its" when something belongs to it, not "it's."
