Rephrasing the question
We are asking the same thing in different ways so a 6-year-old can understand and choose one they like.
Seven kid-friendly titles (rephrasings)
- Who lives by the pond?
- Who lives near the pond?
- Who lives beside the pond?
- Who calls the pond home?
- Who lives close to the pond?
- Which animals live at the pond?
- Who lives around the pond?
What this question means (step by step)
- Step 1: "Who" asks about a person or an animal.
- Step 2: "Lives" means the place they stay or make their home.
- Step 3: "By the pond" means close to the water, next to the pond.
- Put together: We want to know which animals or people make their home next to the pond.
Examples of animals you might find by a pond
- Frogs — they like the water and sit on lily pads.
- Ducks — they swim and walk on the pond edge.
- Turtles — they rest on logs and swim slowly.
- Fish — they live in the water under the surface.
- Dragonflies — they zip around the pond catching bugs.
- Herons or little birds — they stand at the edge looking for food.
Try asking one of the rephrased titles out loud, then look and listen quietly by a pond to see who you can spot!
