10 Fun Zebra Facts 🦓
- Every zebra has its own stripes. No two zebras have the same pattern — it’s like a zebra fingerprint!
- Stripes help them hide. When zebras stand together, their stripes can make it hard for predators to see one zebra alone.
- Stripes can bother bugs. Some flying bugs do not like landing on striped animals, so stripes help keep bugs away.
- They are black and white. Zebras have black skin under their fur and the fur grows black and white stripes.
- There are three kinds of zebras. They are called plains zebra, Grevy’s zebra, and mountain zebra.
- Zebras live in Africa. You can find them on grasslands and in some hilly places.
- Zebras eat grass. They are plant-eaters and spend much of the day grazing.
- Baby zebras are called foals. A foal can stand and run soon after it’s born so it can keep up with the herd.
- Zebras live in groups. They stay in families and help protect each other from danger.
- Zebras are fast and sleep standing up. They can run very fast (about 40 miles per hour) and often sleep while standing so they can escape quickly.
