Corrected sentence

Wild boars love acorns for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Why this is better (step by step)

  1. Who? "Wild boars" — this is the subject (the animals doing something).
  2. What do they do? "love" — this is the verb (the action).
  3. What do they love? "acorns" — this is the object (the thing they love).
  4. Why remove "their"? The word "their" means the acorns belong to the boars. That sounds odd because acorns usually come from oak trees, not from boars. So we simply say they love "acorns."
  5. Commas in a list: When you list three things (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), put commas between them. Including the comma before "and" (called the Oxford comma) is fine: "breakfast, lunch, and dinner."
  6. Punctuation: End the sentence with a period.

Try it yourself

  • Change the food: "Wild boars love berries for breakfast, lunch, and dinner."
  • Make your own: Write a sentence about an animal and what it loves for meals.
