How to play Match & Zap!

Hi there! This is a fun game you can play by yourself or with friends. Here’s a simple, step-by-step guide so you know exactly what to do.

  1. Open the book: You’ll see lots of little pictures, words, or symbols on the pages. Each picture is part of a pair you need to find.
  2. Find a possible match: Look for two items that go together. Matches might be the same colour, the same shape, two animals that are friends, or two things that share a cool fact.
  3. Connect the wires: Put the two wire ends on the two items you think match. The book has special connectors next to each item. Make sure both wire tips touch the right spots.
  4. Listen and watch: If your match is right, you’ll hear a cheerful sound and see a little light glow. That tells you: ZAP! Correct!
  5. If it’s not right: Nothing will happen. Try different pairs until you find the correct match.
  6. Read the short fact: When you get a match, the book also shares a short, cool fact about the pair. Read it — you’ll learn neat things about colours, shapes, animals and more.

Examples of matches

  • Colour match: Red apple and red ball — both are red.
  • Shape match: Circle cookie and round wheel — both are circles.
  • Animal friends: Lion and cub — parent and baby.
  • Fun fact pair: Sunflower and honeybee — bees help plants by pollinating.

Tips to get better and have more fun

  • Start with the easiest pictures and work to harder ones.
  • Play with a friend and take turns — race to see who finds more matches!
  • Count how many matches you find in 5 minutes, then try to beat your score.
  • If you get stuck, look for colour, shape, or the little clues near pictures.
  • After matching, repeat the cool fact out loud so you remember it.

Safety and care

  • Don’t use the book near water.
  • Be gentle with the wires and connectors so they don’t break.
  • If the book uses batteries, ask an adult to help change them.
  • Keep small parts away from little children under 3 years.

Have fun exploring all 140 pairs — each correct match lights up and teaches you something new. Ready, set, zap!
