Match Jobs with the Things They Use

Hi! Let's play a matching game. You'll see a list of jobs and a list of things (tools). Your job is to match each job to the thing that the person uses.

How to match — 4 easy steps

  1. Look at one job (for example, "firefighter").
  2. Look at the things and picture which one that job would need.
  3. Draw a line or write the letter of the thing next to the job.
  4. If you're not sure, try another job and come back later. Use process of elimination.

Activity — Match the jobs (1–8) with the things (A–H)

Try to do this on paper: draw a line from the number to the letter, or write the letter next to the number.

Jobs Things
1. Firefighter A. Tractor
2. Doctor B. Stethoscope
3. Chef C. Camera
4. Teacher D. Mail bag
5. Farmer E. Hammer
6. Mail carrier F. Chalk and book
7. Builder G. Hose
8. Photographer H. Spatula and chef's hat

Write your answers like this: 1 = ____ , 2 = ____ , …

Answers — check here after you try!

  1. 1 = G (Firefighter → Hose). Firefighters use a hose to put out fires.
  2. 2 = B (Doctor → Stethoscope). Doctors listen to hearts and lungs with a stethoscope.
  3. 3 = H (Chef → Spatula and chef's hat). Chefs use spatulas and wear a chef's hat while cooking.
  4. 4 = F (Teacher → Chalk and book). Teachers use books and chalk (or markers) to teach students.
  5. 5 = A (Farmer → Tractor). Farmers use tractors to plow fields and help grow crops.
  6. 6 = D (Mail carrier → Mail bag). Mail carriers carry letters and packages in a mail bag.
  7. 7 = E (Builder → Hammer). Builders use hammers and other tools to build houses.
  8. 8 = C (Photographer → Camera). Photographers take pictures with a camera.

Great job! If you want, I can make another worksheet with pictures or more jobs. Tell me which jobs you like and I'll make a new game.
