Hello! I can teach a 5-year-old in a clear, friendly way. Which topic would you like?

Here are some short example lessons. Pick one and I will give a full step-by-step lesson you can use right away.

  • Letters / Phonics — learning sounds and simple words
  • Numbers / Counting — counting to 20 and simple adding
  • Colours — naming and finding colours
  • Shapes — recognising circles, squares, triangles, rectangles
  • Animals — animal names and sounds
  • Days of the week — order and daily routines
  • Good manners — please, thank you, sharing and taking turns

Below are very short sample lessons for each. Tell me which one you want more detail on.

1. Letters / Phonics (sample)

Goal: Recognise one letter sound and a simple word.

Materials: picture cards or toys, a favourite book.

  1. Show the letter and say its sound clearly (e.g., "s — sss").
  2. Show 2–3 pictures of things that start with that sound (sun, snake, sock). Ask child to point to them.
  3. Play a short game: "Find something that starts with s" around the room for 3 minutes.
  4. Praise and read a tiny word that uses the letter (e.g., "sat").

2. Numbers / Counting (sample)

Goal: Count to 10 and make small groups.

Materials: toys, blocks, snacks (e.g., grapes).

  1. Count slowly together to 10 with fingers or toys.
  2. Ask the child to put 5 blocks in a line and count them out loud.
  3. Do a simple add: "If we add 2 more blocks, how many now?" Help them count.
  4. Finish with a short counting song.

3. Colours (sample)

Goal: Name 4–6 colours.

Materials: coloured paper, crayons, picture books.

  1. Show one colour at a time and say the name ("This is red").
  2. Ask the child to find something in the room that colour.
  3. Play a quick sorting game: put all red items together, all blue together.
  4. Praise and repeat later in the day.

4. Shapes (sample)

Goal: Recognise circle, square, triangle, rectangle.

Materials: shape cut-outs or drawn shapes.

  1. Show and name each shape with a simple example ("A clock is a circle").
  2. Go on a shape walk: find shapes in toys, books or around the house.
  3. Make a small collage using different shapes.

5. Animals (sample)

Goal: Name animals and imitate their sounds.

Materials: toy animals or pictures.

  1. Show animal picture and say the name and sound ("Cow — moo").
  2. Ask the child to make the sound and point to the animal.
  3. Play a matching game: match baby animal to parent or shadow to animal.

6. Days of the week (sample)

Goal: Learn order of the days with routines.

Materials: simple days chart or stickers.

  1. Sing a short days-of-the-week song together.
  2. Talk about what you do on one day ("On Saturday we go to the park").
  3. Use stickers to mark today and tomorrow on a chart.

7. Good manners (sample)

Goal: Use please, thank you, sorry, sharing.

Materials: role-play toys, snack time.

  1. Model phrases in short role-play: "Can I have a toy, please?"
  2. Praise when child uses them and gently remind when they forget.
  3. Play a turn-taking game with a timer (1–2 minutes each).

Which topic would you like a full, step-by-step lesson for? Or tell me a different topic. I will give simple activities, words to say, materials, timing, and ways to check learning — all suitable for a 5-year-old in the UK.
