Gazelles and Herds (for a 6-year-old)
Gazelles love company. A group of gazelles is called a herd. They stay together like friends or a big family.
- Herds are safe: Many eyes and ears watch for danger. If one gazelle spots a lion, it can warn the others.
- Find food and water: Herders move together to find grass and water. It is easier when everyone helps look.
- Zebras sometimes join: Zebras can travel with gazelles. Zebras’ stripes and gazelles’ speed help each other stay safe.
- Run together: If danger comes, the herd runs fast. Running in a group makes it harder for a predator to catch one animal.
Fun idea: Pretend to be a gazelle. Walk slowly like you are looking for grass, then run in place like you see danger! Can you do both?
