Rhinos: Big, tough, and sometimes ticklish!

Rhinos have very thick skin that works like armor. But even with that thick skin, their belly and some other places can still feel tickly. Here’s why, in easy steps:

  1. Thick skin is like a coat: Think of their skin like a heavy winter coat. A coat keeps you safe and warm, but you can still feel a tickle if someone pokes your tummy through pajamas.
  2. Nerves feel things: Under the skin are tiny helpers called nerves. Nerves tell the rhino when something touches them. Some parts have more nerves, so those parts feel more.
  3. The belly is softer: The belly skin is not as hard as the back. It’s thinner and has more nerves, so it can feel ticklish.
  4. They like a good scratch: Rhinos roll in mud and rub on trees to scratch the itchy spots and get rid of bugs. That shows they can feel those places very well.

Fun fact: Even though their skin is strong, rhinos still enjoy being rubbed or scratched in the right places — just like you like a back scratch sometimes!

Important safety tip: Rhinos are wild animals. Never try to touch or tickle a rhino in real life. Watch them from far away and let them live happily.

Isn’t it funny that something so tough can still have a soft, ticklish tummy?
