Three ways to say it:

  • When your nose is stuffed, the tiny tube that joins your nose to your ear can get blocked, so sounds can seem quieter.
  • A clogged nose can make your ears feel full and make it harder to hear clearly.
  • If your nose is all stuffed up, the path to your ear doesn’t work right and noises can sound muffled.

Why this happens (easy steps):

  1. Your nose and middle ear are connected by a small tube.
  2. If your nose is swollen or full of snot, that tube can close or get filled.
  3. When the tube is closed, the ear can’t balance pressure, so sounds seem dull or far away.

Tip: Gently blowing your nose, yawning, or swallowing can help open the tube. If your ear hurts or you can’t hear for a long time, tell a grown-up.
