Be kind to your ears!
Here are simple steps so headphones stay fun and your ears stay happy. Ask a grown-up to help the first few times.
1. Keep the sound nice and soft
- Turn the volume down — about half is usually good. Ask a grown-up to help set it.
- If someone next to you can hear your music, its probably too loud.
- You should still be able to talk while wearing them.
2. Take breaks
- Listen for about 30 minutes, then take a 5–10 minute break.
- Use a timer or play a little game: when the timer rings, give your ears a rest.
- Breaks let your ears relax so they dont get tired.
3. Keep headphones clean and cozy
- Wipe them with a soft, dry cloth. Ask a grown-up if you can use a little damp cloth for sticky spots.
- Dont share ear tips with friends. If you do, wash or swap the tips first (ask a grown-up).
- Put them in their case or on a hook when youre not using them so they dont get squished or broken.
4. Be gentle
- Hold the plug, not the cord, when you unplug them.
- Dont yank, step on, or twist the cord.
- Keep them away from water and hot places.
5. Ask for help
If youre not sure about the volume, how to clean them, or if something breaks, ask a grown-up. They can help keep your ears and headphones safe.
Little rule to remember: quiet sound + breaks + clean headphones = lots of happy listening!
