Hello, Little Gardener!
A lawn mower is like a friendly grass-eating machine that helps keep the yard neat. Let’s learn about it like a fun story!
The Lawn Mower Friends
- Body: The big part that holds everything together. It’s like the mower’s tummy.
- Wheels: These help the mower roll across the grass — whee!
- Handle: The grown-up holds this to push or steer the mower.
- Blades: These are sharp and spin super fast to cut the grass — they do the job, not your fingers!
- Engine or Motor: This gives the mower power. It goes vroom or makes a buzzing sound if it’s electric.
- Bag or Hole: Some mowers collect the cut grass in a bag. Others leave the tiny pieces on the lawn to help it grow.
How It Works — Step by Step
- An adult checks the mower to make sure it’s safe and ready.
- The adult turns it on. The engine goes vroom or the motor goes bzzzz.
- The blades under the mower spin very fast. Swish! They slice the tall grass into tiny pieces.
- The adult pushes or guides the mower. The wheels roll, and the grass gets cut as the mower passes.
- If the mower has a bag, the cut grass goes into it. When the bag is full, the adult empties it.
Important Safety Rules (for You!)
- Only grown-ups should use the mower. The blades are very sharp.
- When a mower is running, stay far away and watch from a safe spot.
- If you see a mower, don’t touch it. Even when it looks off, the blades can be dangerous.
- Ask your grown-up to wear ear protection if the mower is loud so their ears stay happy.
Fun Things You Can Do
You can pretend to be the mower and make a vroom-swish sound while you push an imaginary mower. Or draw a picture of the mower and color the wheels bright red!
Great job learning about the lawn mower. Remember: it helps cut grass, but only grown-ups should use it. High five!
