Step-by-step AGLC4 guidance (concise)
- Author: Give the author’s full name as it appears on the book (e.g. Paul Edward Dutton).
- Title: Italicise the book title. If there is a subtitle, include it in parentheses or after a colon as appropriate.
- Edition/format: For an ebook, indicate the format (e.g. Kindle ed) in parentheses. If you know publisher and year, include them as usual: (Publisher Year).
- Bibliography order: AGLC4 places items in a bibliography by author surname then initials; in a simple single entry style shown here, list full name then italicised title then edition/format.
- Annotations: Place immediately after the citation. Keep annotation length to the requested 30 words; here the voice requested is a Nigella Lawson–like cadence (sensual, warm, evocative).
Example AGLC4 bibliography entry (item 30)
30. Paul Edward Dutton, Micro Middle Ages (The New Middle Ages) (Kindle ed)
30-word Nigella Lawson–style annotation
"A sensual, intoxicating survey of medieval micro-histories; Dutton feeds you curious, savoury vignettes, each rich with texture and warmth, leaving the mind pleasantly sated and eager for more, indeed always."
Notes
If you can locate the publisher and year for the Kindle edition, append them in the citation like this: (Publisher Year) or for an e-book: (Kindle ed, Publisher Year). AGLC4 prefers as much publication detail as possible.
