Sounds like you mean glow lichen — the flat, pale green, wall plant that glows a little. Here’s how to find and get it in Minecraft Bedrock, explained simply.
- Find it:
Go into caves (regular caves or dripstone caves). Look on walls and ceilings for small flat pale-green patches that give off a little light. It looks like a thin flat plant stuck to the rock.
- Make shears (easy way to collect):
Open a crafting table and put 2 iron ingots diagonally to make shears. (If you don’t have iron yet, mine iron ore and smelt it in a furnace.)
- Collect the glow lichen:
Use the shears on the glow lichen (left-click with shears on PC or the use button on your device). It will drop as an item so you can pick it up. If you break it without shears, it won’t drop. Another way is to use a tool with the Silk Touch enchantment.
- Place it somewhere else:
Select the glow lichen in your hotbar and place it on a wall, floor, or ceiling by aiming at the block face and using the place button. It works on most solid blocks.
- Quick tips:
- Glow lichen gives a little light (not as bright as a torch), so it’s good for softly lighting caves.
- It doesn’t spread like moss blocks and bone meal does not make it grow.
- If you don’t have shears, try a Silk Touch tool or go to Creative mode.
- Bring torches, food, and a pickaxe when exploring caves so you stay safe.
Have fun collecting glow lichen — it’s great for making cool cave walls that glow!
