Listen: I expect discipline, measurable progress and no excuses. This 12‑month plan demands 45–60 minutes daily, 6 days/week in Term blocks, combining Piano Adventures repertoire with Hanon‑Faber technique and Scale & Chord progressive work. You will also study medieval sacred and secular repertory (Hildegard of Bingen chant, chansons de geste fragments, German Minnesänger songs, and minstrel idioms) to develop phrasing, modes and stylistic awareness.

ACARA v9 mapping: Aligns with the strands Creating and Responding; Musicology (context and history); Performance skills; Aural and theoretical knowledge. Term outcomes include: accurate performance with expressive intent, application of modes and transposition, composition/arrangement in medieval style, and technical fluency (scales, arpeggios, chords) for Years 9–10 level outcomes.

Months 1–3: Focus on relaxed gesture (Hanon‑Faber warmups), Scale & Chord Book L1 patterns, core Piano Adventures pieces. Introduce plainchant, modal listening and simple two‑voice organum. Assessment: sight‑read, technical etude, short aural test.

Months 4–6: Scale & Chord L2, strengthen arpeggios, transposition into modes. Repertoire: select a Hildegard chant arrangement and a medieval secular song; study rhythmic modes and ornamentation. Assessment: ensemble or recorded duet, written reflection linking practice to historical style.

Months 7–9: Scale & Chord L3, Hanon‑Faber advanced routines for endurance. Compose/arrange a short piece using Dorian/Phrygian modes; perform a minnesänger piece with expressive diction. Assessment: composition portfolio, technical exam.

Months 10–12: Consolidate, prepare recital and final summative assessment: 3 contrasting pieces (Piano Adventures capstone, medieval sacred, medieval secular), 10‑minute viva on technique and history. Rubric: technique, accuracy, expression, historical stylistic awareness, and creative application.

No leniency: practice, log, perform monthly. I will expect evidence and improvement every four weeks.
