I am 13 years old and I go to a Montessori secondary school. When I think about my future, I see a path that feels bright and open because my school treats me like someone who can make real choices. Montessori secondary school teaches me to learn by doing, so I imagine a future where I keep following projects I care about and become better at making decisions, solving problems, and working with others.
In my future I see myself doing projects that solve real problems. At school we do long-term projects where we research, plan, and build things. That makes me think I could become an engineer, an artist, a scientist, or even start my own business. I like the idea that I can try different things and change my mind without feeling like I failed. Montessori lets me learn at my own pace, so I picture a future where I keep learning new skills—like coding, making things with my hands, and speaking other languages—because I enjoyed learning them, not just because I had to.
What also makes me hopeful is the way our teachers act like guides. They listen, give suggestions, and help me reflect on my choices. I can imagine myself as a person who helps others in the same way, maybe as a mentor, teacher, or team leader. Montessori’s mixed-age classrooms mean I already practice leading younger students and learning from older ones. In the future I think I will be comfortable working with people of different ages and backgrounds.
Another part of my vision is community service and outdoor learning. My school takes us outside, grows food, and works with local groups. I see a future where I use those experiences to care for the environment and my community. I want to travel, learn about other cultures, and bring back ideas that help where I live.
Finally, Montessori helps me become responsible and independent. I am learning to manage my time, plan goals, and reflect on my work. In the future I imagine being confident enough to try things that scare me, to keep learning all my life, and to help others do the same. That is how I see my future with Montessori secondary school: full of choice, meaning, and chances to grow into a person who can make a difference.
