Why I Want to Join Montessori and How I Envision My Future

My name is Mateo, I am 13 years old, and I want to join the Montessori school because I believe it will help me learn in a way that fits who I am. I like to understand how things work, I enjoy building small science projects, and I learn best when I can explore ideas with my hands and my friends. In Montessori, I hope to be part of a place where everyone is curious and helpful.

I think the Montessori method is special because it mixes freedom with responsibility. I imagine choosing projects that interest me, while a teacher guides me instead of just telling me what to do. I like the idea of mixed-age classrooms because older students can teach younger ones and younger students can inspire older ones. That teamwork will help me become a better listener and a stronger leader.

Here is how I plan my future at Montessori in steps:

  1. Explore: In my first months I will try different activities—science, art, and practical life tasks—to discover what I love most.
  2. Choose a Project: After I find my interests, I will pick one or two long-term projects, like a small robotics experiment or a community garden plan, and work on them regularly.
  3. Collaborate: I will join or form groups with classmates to share ideas and help each other. Learning from peers will teach me patience and different ways to solve problems.
  4. Lead and Teach: As I grow, I will help younger students with reading or experiments. Teaching others will improve my own understanding and build confidence.
  5. Connect to the Future: I will use my projects and community work to prepare for high school and future studies in science or design.

In the end, I imagine myself at Montessori as someone who is independent, curious, and caring. I want to leave the classroom not only with knowledge but with habits like responsibility, teamwork, and a love of learning that will help me throughout life. I am excited to try new things, to help others, and to keep learning step by step.
