Contour Map to Cross‑Section Worksheet
Instructions: On the contour map (left) draw vertical projection points onto the blank cross‑section grid (right). Mark the distances where the transect line A–B crosses each contour, plot the elevations on the grid, then connect them smoothly to make the profile.
- Measure the distance along the transect from A to each intersection with a contour (use the map scale).
- On the cross‑section grid, use the horizontal scale to mark the distance from A, and the vertical axis to mark elevation.
- Plot each intersection as a point (distance, elevation).
- Connect the points smoothly to show the topographic profile — remember valleys have rounded bottoms; cliffs are steep.
If you want a completely blank map (no intersection markers) or a different contour set or scale, tell me the preferred elevations, number of contours, and scale and I will regenerate the worksheet.
