IN THE COURT OF MATHEMATICS

Case: ACARA v9 — Student: 15-year-old Accelerated Learner

PRELIMINARY STATEMENT

This brief proposes a one‑year prospectus using AoPS Introductions. If gaps exist, Prealgebra is completed first; otherwise begin Introduction to Algebra with Introduction to Geometry running concurrently. (Cue wistful jingle.)

LEARNING OBJECTIVES (ACARA v9)

• Number & Algebra: fluency with fractions, exponents, ratios, linear and quadratic reasoning.
• Measurement & Geometry: similarity, congruence, circles, power of a point, basic trigonometry.
• Statistics & Probability: counting, probability, basic statistics.
• Mathematical reasoning: problem solving, proof, modelling.

COURSE PLAN

Stage 1: Finish Prealgebra intensively (fractions, exponents, primes, counting, basic geometry) with 2–4 sections/week, Alcumus practice and weekly assessments.
Stage 2: Transition to Introduction to Algebra (linear equations, inequalities, polynomials, functions, quadratics) while keeping Introduction to Geometry simmering (1–2 sessions/week).

MOTION FOR RELIEF

Deliverables: Alcumus mastery targets (≈90%), timed mixed tests (≈80%), readiness for AMC10‑style problems. Serve with curiosity, regular reflection, and AoPS videos as tutor.

OBITER DICTUM (ALLY MCBEAL CADENCE): Sing to solutions, savour tricky problems, take breathers, review mistakes weekly, use Alcumus feedback loops, watch AoPS videos as whispers, and pursue contest practice as appetizers toward AMC10 and deeper reasoning. Report progress monthly, adjust pace, celebrate curiosity and rigor. Begin boldly.
