Parts of the Farm (for a 7-year-old)
A farm is a place where people grow food and take care of animals. Here are the most important parts of a farm and what you might see in each place.
1. Farmhouse
The farmhouse is where the farmer and family live. It looks like a regular house and is the place for cooking, sleeping, and planning the farm work.
2. Barn
A barn is a big building where animals sleep, get food, or stay safe from bad weather. Farmers also store tools and hay (dried grass) in the barn.
3. Fields and Crop Fields
Fields are big open areas where farmers grow plants. Crop fields might have corn, wheat, vegetables, or flowers.
4. Pasture
A pasture is a grassy area where cows, sheep, or horses can eat and walk around.
5. Orchard
An orchard is a place with many fruit trees, like apple trees or orange trees.
6. Pond or Water Source
Many farms have a pond or a well for water. Animals drink there and plants get water from it.
7. Fences
Fences keep animals safe and stop them from walking into the fields where crops grow.
8. Barnyard and Farmyard
The farmyard is the area near the barn where animals might roam and people do some outdoor work.
9. Silo
A silo is a tall round tower that stores grain or silage to feed animals during winter.
10. Tractor and Farm Machines
Tractors help farmers plow fields, plant seeds, and carry heavy things. They are like big helper machines.
11. Chicken Coop, Stable, and Pigsty
- Chicken coop: a small house for chickens.
- Stable: a place for horses.
- Pigsty: where pigs live.
12. Greenhouse and Beehive
Greenhouses are warm places where plants grow, even when it is cold outside. Beehives are homes for bees; bees help pollinate flowers and make honey.
