Let's fix the ruined village!
Hi! We will repair the village together step‑by‑step. I’ll keep everything simple and safe so you can do it in Minecraft Bedrock.
What you should bring (simple list)
- Tools: wooden/stone/iron pickaxe, axe, shovel, hoe (use better ones if you have them)
- Blocks: lots of planks (oak or the village wood), logs, stairs, slabs, glass, doors
- Torches or lanterns (for light)
- Fences and gates
- Seeds (wheat, carrots, potatoes) for farms
- Beds (one for each villager you want to keep)
- Some extra things: chests, job blocks (see below), bucket of water
Quick plan (4 easy steps)
- Make the place safe so zombies and monsters can’t get villagers.
- Clear broken blocks and pick up useful items.
- Rebuild houses, windows, doors, roofs and farms.
- Give villagers beds and job blocks so they work and trade with you.
Step-by-step instructions
1) Make it safe
- Put torches everywhere so monsters won’t spawn. Put them on houses, streets, and inside buildings.
- Build a fence or wall around the village entrances. Add gates so you can walk in and out.
- Fix holes in ground so villagers don’t fall in. Cover deep holes with slabs or blocks.
2) Clear rubble
- Break fallen blocks and collect wood, planks, and glass. These are useful for rebuilding.
- Pick up any dropped items in chests or on the ground.
3) Rebuild houses (one house at a time)
- Match materials: if the house used oak planks and oak logs, use the same so it looks like the village.
- Walls: replace missing planks and logs. Fill holes.
- Windows: place glass panes or glass blocks in window holes.
- Door: put a door where the old one was (or place it on the front). Make sure the door opens outward so villagers can go in and out.
- Roof: use stairs or slabs to make a sloped roof. If that’s hard, a flat roof of planks is OK for now.
- Light inside: put at least 1 torch inside each house so villagers aren’t scared at night.
4) Fix farms
- Make a water trench: 1 block of water will hydrate farmland up to 4 blocks away.
- Use a hoe to make farmland and plant seeds (wheat, carrots, potatoes).
- Place fences around the farm so animals don’t trample crops.
- Put composters near the farm if you want a villager to become a Farmer.
5) Give villagers beds and jobs
- Put a bed inside or next to a house for each villager. Villagers need beds to rest and to breed.
- Villagers use job blocks to get a job. Put a job block near a villager who is unemployed and they will take the job (they must be able to reach it).
Some common job blocks:- Composter = Farmer
- Lectern = Librarian
- Barrel = Fisherman
- Fletching Table = Fletcher
- Cartography Table = Cartographer
- Smithing Table = Toolsmith
- Grindstone = Weaponsmith
- Blast Furnace = Armorer
- Stonecutter = Mason
- Loom = Shepherd
- Smoker = Butcher
- Cauldron = Leatherworker
- Brewing Stand = Cleric
6) If you have zombie villagers
- Trap the zombie villager in a safe place so it can’t escape or burn in sunlight.
- To turn it back into a normal villager you need a Potion of Weakness (splash) and a Golden Apple. You throw the splash potion at it, then feed it the golden apple. It will shake for a little while and then become a villager again.
- If potions are hard, you can also try bringing villagers from another village by boat or minecart (safer option for beginners).
7) Protect villagers for the future
- Keep torches and fences around the village.
- Make paths between houses with gravel or cobblestone so villagers move around safely.
- If you want an Iron Golem for extra protection, you can build one with iron blocks in a T shape and put a carved pumpkin on top (this needs lots of iron) — otherwise fences and lights work great.
Cool finishing touches
- Put a bell in the center so villagers can gather there.
- Add chests in houses for loot and tools.
- Plant flowers and trees so the village looks happy.
- Add signs with shop names or villager names to make it yours.
Simple repair example (small ruined house)
- Clear broken blocks inside and around the house.
- Replace walls with 8–12 planks and 4 logs for corners.
- Place a door at the front and put 2 glass panes for windows.
- Put one torch inside and one outside near the door.
- Place a bed and a chest inside for the villager.
Final tips
- Work little by little — fix one house, then another.
- Save your game (if you can) or make a copy of the world before big changes.
- If you get stuck, ask a friend or look for a short video about rebuilding villages in Bedrock.
Have fun! Fixing a village is like being a Minecraft builder and protector. If you want, tell me what ruins look like (which blocks are broken), and I’ll give a short list of exact blocks to use to repair them.
