Hey there! Let's talk about moon craters. Have you ever seen a big hole in the ground? Craters on the moon are like those big holes, but they are way up in the sky on the moon's surface!

So, where do these craters come from? Well, the moon doesn't have a fence or a shield around it like Earth does. That means when things from space, like asteroids and meteoroids (which are tiny pieces of rock and metal), zoom through the sky, they can crash into the moon!

When an asteroid or meteoroid hits the moon really hard, it makes a big boom and pushes the moon surface out, which creates a hole. This hole is what we call a crater! Some craters are really small, and some are super big!

Also, because the moon doesn't have air or water to wash away these craters like we have on Earth, they can stay there for a very, very long time. So, if you look up at the moon tonight, and you see all those dark spots, those are different craters made by space rocks! Isn’t that cool?
