- Bird Photography: Technical skills include manual exposure, telephoto composition, use of natural hides, and post-processing in RAW. Portfolio includes 60 curated images with metadata and captions. Assessment: A (creative composition and ethical field practices).
- Ecology & Conservation: Project on local habitat restoration with native planting plan and monitoring protocol; correspondence with local conservation group. Assessment: A- (excellent initiative, further data collection recommended).
- Scientific Methods & Data Literacy: Designed and conducted a 12-week feeder visitation study, recording species, counts, and weather variables; performed basic statistical summaries and graphing. Assessment: A (clear methodology and thoughtful analysis).
- English & Communication: Written species accounts, blog posts, and exhibition labels; presented at a community nature night. Assessment: A (polished prose and engaging oral presentation).
- Photography Technology & Ethics: Demonstrates responsible ethics: no baiting, minimal disturbance, and permitting when required. Assessment: A+ (professional integrity).

Portfolio contains 60 curated images with species identification, location, conditions, and conservation notes. Supplemental materials: field journals, species account booklet (24 pages), feeder study dataset (CSV), and presentation slides.
Attendance, Hours, and Credit
Total instructional hours logged: 720 (including fieldwork, research, composition, and technical study). Recommended credit: 1.0 credit for Natural Sciences with a supplemental 0.5 credit for Visual Arts/Photography.
Assessment Summary and Recommendations
Nancy has exceeded expectations in naturalist skills, scientific inquiry, and photographic artistry. Recommended next steps: advanced digital darkroom techniques, community science leadership (mentoring younger naturalists), and a capstone research/portfolio project focused on a multi-year species trend.

INTRODUCTION
1. Nancy Clancy, age 14, has engaged in a year-long program focused on ornithology, field ecology, and photographic documentation. The record demonstrates sustained effort, scholarly curiosity, and professional comportment in field settings.
STATEMENT OF FACTS
2. Over the reporting period Nancy logged in excess of seven hundred hours of integrated study, including observational surveys, a feeder visitation experiment, and photographic portfolio development. 3. Portfolio evidence includes sixty curated images, a twenty-four page species account booklet, and a recorded public presentation.
ISSUES PRESENTED
4. Whether the student has achieved competency in identification, data collection, and ethical field practice; and whether she is prepared for advanced independent study and leadership roles.
ARGUMENT AND FINDINGS
5. Based upon direct observation, review of documentary evidence, and corroborating community feedback, Nancy has met and in several instances exceeded the learning objectives articulated at the program's outset. 6. Her field methodologies were systematic and reproducible. 7. Her photographic work demonstrates both technical proficiency and an applied understanding of conservation ethics.
CONCLUSION
8. It is therefore the joint recommendation of parent and teacher that Nancy be credited with exemplary performance: attainment of core outcomes in natural science and visual documentation, authorization to pursue an advanced capstone project, and encouragement to assume mentorship responsibilities within community science initiatives.
PRAYER FOR RELIEF
9. Wherefore, the undersigned respectfully request formal acknowledgement of Nancy's accomplishments in the form of academic credit as recommended above, continued support for fieldwork resources, and facilitation of opportunities for public exhibition of her work.
Respectfully submitted,
Mrs. Clancy, Parent and Instructor
