Creme de la Mer Atelier Homeschool Equipage & Competency Map — Years 9–10

Campaign voice In the tone of coastal couture — think sea-salted silk, orchid tea at Ladurée, Jacques Cousteau curiosity, the ceremony of Queen Elizabeth I's court — this document maps a classical Trivium & Quadrivium programme into four couture-season terms, pairs learning strands to atelier-grade equipage, and supplies a high-end shopping list and Filofax atelier entry templates for Years 9–10 (ages 14–16).

Seasonal Terms — Couture Titles & Rhythms

Map each academic year across four seasonal terms. Each term is titled to craft identity, ritual and assessment rhythm.

  • Winter — The Frosted Sovereign Tide: Courtly rehearsal, grammar-memory work, pattern study, technical shop practice.
  • Spring — La Sirène Vernale: Field expeditions, emerging inquiry, practical synthesis, ensemble performance.
  • Summer — Le Voyage Nautique de Midsommar: Intensive ateliers, outdoor salons, mock court and production seasons.
  • Autumn — Atelier Récolte de Stella Maris: Culmination, juried exhibitions, portfolio and accreditation assessments.

Pedagogy & Competency Strands (High Level)

Synthesize Trivium (Grammar, Logic, Rhetoric) & Quadrivium (Arithmetic, Geometry, Music, Astronomy) and expand to: Arts, Sciences, Practical Arts, Movement & Wellness, Technical Design, Civic Theatre & Mock Court, Languages (French superseding Latin), and Coastal Stewardship.

Assessment & Recordkeeping

Rubrics should be 0–4 scale with descriptors: Novice(0–1), Developing(2), Proficient(3), Mastery(4). Use Filofax entries to store artifacts (links to cloud storage) and teacher annotations. Teachers keep a master A5 Filofax for cross-student competency mapping and accreditation evidence packaging.

Final Notes & Implementation Advice

  • Sequence AoPS mathematics carefully: Year 9 begin AoPS Prealgebra and Intro to Geometry; Year 10 continue Intro to Algebra and subsequent AoPS course(s). Track progress in Academic Filofax with time-stamped problem portfolios.
  • French language sequence should be prioritized with classical Latin optional advanced reading; use immersion salons (French supper, maritime journals in French) to accelerate fluency.
  • Maintain a consistent assessment ritual each term: portfolio submission + juried panel + oral viva. Use couture titles for ceremonial identity to increase student ownership and community recognition.
  • Consider accredited external examinations if formal certification is required at Year 10—plan deadlines into Autumn term (Atelier Récolte).

Sample timeline: Year-cycle with the four couture-season terms; each term is 8–10 weeks with a 2-week atelier intensive in the Summer term. For any item recommendations that require specification to local climate or accreditation pathway, supply region and expected certification and I will refine the list.
