- Details or sentences that support the idea: Give facts, examples, or descriptions that explain the main idea.
- Closing sentence (optional): Ends the paragraph and may connect to the next idea.
How to write a paragraph
- Choose a main idea: Decide what you want to explain or describe.
- Write a topic sentence: Make it clear and specific.
- Add supporting details: Include 3–5 sentences with facts, examples, or descriptions.
- Finish with a closing sentence: Sum up the idea or transition to the next paragraph.
Example
Topic: My favorite hobby is biking.
Paragraph: Biking is my favorite hobby because it keeps me active and helps me explore new places. I enjoy riding with friends on weekends and feeling the wind in my hair. Riding also makes me feel confident when I tackle hills or long stretches. After a good ride, I always feel happy and energized for the rest of the day.
