The savannah is a big, wide place that can get really hot. Just like on a sunny beach day, when the sun shines bright and it's hot outside, the savannah can feel the same way.

Hippos are big animals that don’t like to get too hot. They have thick skin, but the sun can make them feel too warm. So what do hippos do? They love to stay in the water all day! The water keeps them cool, just like how a cold drink helps us feel better on a hot day.

When hippos are in the water, it helps them not get too hot. Plus, they can swim around and have fun! Even when they come out of the water, they might roll in the mud to keep their skin cool and protect it from the sun.

So, whenever it’s a hot day in the savannah, you can find hippos relaxing and enjoying the water – just like how you might cool off in a pool!
