Here's a kid-friendly explanation of how Color Wonder and Imagine Ink markers work, aimed at a 9-year-old learner.

What makes these markers special?

Most markers use colored pigments or dyes that you see as color when you draw on paper. Color Wonder and Imagine Ink use something a little different: the ink in the marker is mostly colorless, or very faint, until it touches the right paper.

  1. Inside the marker: The marker holds a water-based solution with a colorless dye that can make color appear when it meets the right surface.
  2. On plain paper: The colorless ink sits on the paper but you can barely see anything yet — nothing strong or bright happens.
  3. The special paper: The Color Wonder or Imagine Ink paper has a special coating or layer that reacts with the marker's ink. This reaction changes the invisible dye into visible color, so you see bright pictures only on that paper.
  4. Why it’s safe: The inks are designed to be non-toxic and water-based. They're meant to be used on the right paper and are less likely to stain skin or clothes. Always have an adult help you and use the right paper.

Extra idea: a simple demonstration

If you have Color Wonder paper and markers, try drawing on ordinary paper too and compare. You should notice the colors appear much more clearly on the Color Wonder paper.

Note: The exact chemical names and recipes are kept secret by the makers, but the big idea is clear: colorless ink + special paper = color you can see.
