David and Goliath is a Bible story about a young shepherd boy who trusted God.
A giant soldier named Goliath frightened the people of Israel. He was very tall and strong, and no one wanted to fight him. David was much younger and smaller. He was not wearing armor or carrying a sword—he had a sling and a few smooth stones.
David believed that God would help him. He bravely faced Goliath and used his sling to send a stone flying. The stone struck Goliath, and the giant fell. David won, not because he looked the biggest or strongest, but because he trusted God and acted courageously.
What the story teaches
People often notice what someone looks like on the outside. But the Bible teaches that God looks at the heart: the kind of person someone is inside. God saw David’s faith and courage, even though David looked small beside Goliath.
This reminds us that we do not have to be the biggest or strongest to do something brave or good. What matters is having a caring heart, trusting God, and choosing to do what is right.
