What is a Piano?

A piano is a musical instrument that makes sound by striking strings with hammers. It has a keyboard with keys you press to play different notes. There are 88 keys on a standard piano: 52 white keys and 36 black keys.

How Does a Piano Work?

When you press a key on the piano, it causes a hammer to hit a string inside the piano. The string vibrates and creates a sound. Each key is connected to a specific string or group of strings, which makes a different note.

Types of Pianos

There are two main types of pianos:

  • Grand Piano: This piano has a large, horizontal shape. It's great for concerts and producing rich sounds.
  • Upright Piano: This piano is smaller and stands vertically, making it a good choice for homes with limited space.
