What are the Northern Lights?
Hi OllyRoRo! Have you ever seen a rainbow in the sky? The Northern Lights are like a magical rainbow that dances in the sky, but they happen at night! They show beautiful colors like green, pink, and purple.
Where do we see them?
The Northern Lights can be seen in special places near the top of our planet, like in places called the North Pole and Alaska. That's because they like to hang out where it's really cold and dark.
Why do they happen?
So, the Northern Lights happen because of the sun! The sun sends out little pieces called particles, and when these particles hit the air in our Earth's sky, they make those beautiful colored lights. It’s like when you blow on a dandelion and the seeds float away, but instead, the sun's particles float and create art in the sky!
When can we see them?
We can see the Northern Lights mostly during the winter when it’s dark outside. If you ever go on a chilly adventure to see the Northern Lights, it's like watching a magical show with colors dancing above you!
In summary
So remember, the Northern Lights are a spectacular light show that happens because the sun plays with our sky! Isn’t that amazing?
