What is an Excavator?

An excavator is a big machine that helps people dig in the ground. It's kind of like a robot that helps us move dirt and rocks! Think of it as a giant toy that can actually work.

The Bucket

The part of the excavator that digs is called the bucket. You can think of the bucket like a big scoop. Just like when you use a shovel to scoop up sand at the beach, the bucket scoops up dirt and rocks from the ground.

How Does the Bucket Work?

The bucket can move up and down, and it can also open and close. When it wants to dig, it goes down into the dirt and scoops it up, just like you would with a shovel. Then, it can lift the dirt up high and drop it wherever it needs to go. It's very strong and can carry a lot of weight!

Why Do We Use Excavators?

Excavators are really helpful for building things like houses, roads, and parks. They make digging easier and faster, so we can create lots of fun places to play and live!
