What is a Butterfly's Life Cycle?

A butterfly goes through four main stages in its life. These stages are:

1. Egg - A butterfly starts its life as a tiny egg. The mother butterfly lays the eggs on a leaf.
2. Larva (Caterpillar) - When the eggs hatch, they turn into caterpillars. They eat a lot of leaves and grow.
3. Chrysalis (Pupa) - After growing enough, the caterpillar forms a hard shell around itself called a chrysalis. Inside, it changes into a butterfly.
4. Adult Butterfly - Finally, the butterfly comes out of the chrysalis and spreads its wings to fly away.

What Isn’t Part of a Butterfly’s Life Cycle?

While the butterfly goes through these four stages, things that are not part of its life cycle include:

• Spider Webs - Spider webs are made by spiders and have nothing to do with butterflies.
• Bees - Bees are different insects and do not affect the butterfly's life cycle.
• Flowers - While butterflies love flowers, the flowers themselves are not part of the butterfly's life cycle.

So, the important thing to remember is that butterflies have a special life cycle that includes eggs, caterpillars, chrysalises, and adult butterflies, but not things like spider webs, bees, or flowers!
