The Iguana's Third Eye

Hi there, little explorer! Today, we are going to learn about a special part of an iguana's body called the third eye.

What is a Third Eye?

Most animals have two eyes, but iguanas have something really cool – they have a third eye! This third eye is not like the other two. It is located at the top of the iguana's head.

What Does the Third Eye Do?

The iguana’s third eye helps them see things differently. It can’t see colors like our eyes, but it helps iguanas know if there is a danger above them, like a bird that might want to eat them!

How Does it Look?

The third eye is actually a little bump on the iguana’s head. It might look like a tiny, soft spot. Even though it is not like a regular eye, it still has a special purpose.

Why Is It Important?

This third eye is very important for iguanas because it helps keep them safe. It lets them notice when something is happening in the sky, so they can stay away from trouble!

Fun Fact!

Did you know? Sometimes, when iguanas are basking in the sun, they use their third eye to watch for other animals and stay alerted!

So, the next time you see an iguana, remember that it has a special little eye on the top of its head to help keep it safe. It’s one of the many amazing things about these wonderful creatures!
