Why Do We Need Food?

Our bodies need food just like cars need fuel! Food gives us the energy we need to run, play, and think. It also has special things called nutrients and vitamins that help us stay healthy and grow strong.

What Happens When We Eat?

When we eat food, it goes into our stomach. There, our bodies start to break it down into smaller pieces. This process is called digestion.

How Long Does Digestion Take?

It can take about 24 hours for our bodies to digest all the food we eat. During this time, the good parts of the food get soaked up by our bodies, and the leftovers that we don't need go out as waste.

The Four Meals

We usually eat food in four meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a snack. Each time we eat, our bodies get new energy and nutrients. Eating throughout the day helps us feel good and keeps our bodies working well!
