How Our Bodies Get Rid of Leftovers
Okay, kiddo! Let’s talk about what happens to the food we eat after we finish our meals. When you eat, your body uses the good parts of the food for energy, but there are some parts that your body doesn’t need. These leftover parts are called waste.
Step 1: Food Travels Through Your Tummy
After you chew your food and swallow it, it goes down a tube called the esophagus and into your tummy, which is also called the stomach.
In your tummy, the food gets mixed up and broken down.
Step 2: The Small Intestine
Next, the food moves into a long tube called the small intestine. Here, your body takes out all the good stuff from the food, like vitamins and energy, and sends them into your blood.
Step 3: The Large Intestine
After the small intestine, what’s left goes into another tube called the large intestine. This is where your body takes out water from the waste, making it more solid. This is the leftovers that your body doesn't need anymore!
Step 4: Leaving the Body
Finally, when your body is ready, the waste leaves your body through a place called the rectum and comes out through the anus. That’s how we get rid of waste!
Why It’s Important
Getting rid of waste is very important for keeping our bodies healthy. It helps us feel good and keeps our tummies happy!
So Remember!
Your body uses what it needs from the food we eat and then helps us get rid of the leftovers. That’s how our bodies work!
