What Are Fats?
Fats are one of the important things we find in foods. They help our bodies to be strong and healthy. Just like how we need fuel for a car to run, our bodies need fats as fuel!
Good Fats vs. Bad Fats
There are two main types of fats: good fats and bad fats.
Good Fats
Good fats are really helpful for our bodies. They help us to grow, give us energy, and are good for our brains! You can find good fats in:
- Avocados: Creamy and tasty, avocados are packed with good fats!
- Nuts: Pecan, almond, and cashew nuts contain good fats.
- Olive Oil: This is a good fat you can use for cooking.
- Fish: Some fish, like salmon, have fats that are good for us.
Bad Fats
Bad fats are not good for our bodies. They can make us feel tired and can sometimes make us sick. You might find bad fats in:
- Fried Foods: Like French fries and fried chicken.
- Sweets: Some candies and cakes have bad fats.
- Processed Snacks: Chips and some types of crackers can have bad fats.
Why Are Fats Important?
Fats are important for our bodies because:
- They help us stay full and satisfied.
- They are good for our brains, helping us think and learn.
- They can help our bodies absorb vitamins from other foods.
What Should We Do?
It's great to eat foods with good fats like avocados and nuts to help us grow strong! We should try to have less of the foods with bad fats so we can stay healthy!
