Getting Hurt and Why It Makes Us Cry

Hi there, little one! Sometimes, when we play or do things, we might accidentally hurt ourselves. You might trip and fall, bump your head, or scratch your knee. When that happens, it can hurt a lot, and that's okay!

What Happens When We Get Hurt?

When our body gets hurt, it sends a little message to our brain to tell us that something is wrong. This message is how we know to feel pain. Pain is important because it helps us understand that we need to be careful and take care of our body.

Why Do We Cry?

Sometimes, when we're hurt, we start to cry. Crying is a way for our body to let out those feelings. It's like saying, "Ouch! That hurt!" Crying can make us feel better and helps others know that we need some comfort.

What Can We Do When We Get Hurt?

  • Take a deep breath: Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth. This will help calm you down.
  • Look for help: If you're with a grown-up or a friend, let them know you need some help. They can give you a hug or help you clean your boo-boo.
  • When you're feeling better: Remember that it's okay to play again, but try to be extra careful next time!

It’s Okay to Feel Sad!

Feeling sad or scared after getting hurt is normal. Everyone feels that way sometimes! With a little time and some care, our bodies heal and feel better again.

Remember!

It’s always important to tell someone when you're hurt. They can help you feel better and fix up any boo-boos!
