What are Teeth?
Teeth are small hard structures in our mouth that help us chew food. They are made up of a special kind of bone that is very strong. Just like our bones in our arms and legs, teeth help us in many ways!
Why Can We See Our Teeth?
Teeth are the only bones in our body that we can see from the outside. Why is that? Well, other bones like those in your arms, legs, and even your skull are hidden under your skin and muscles. But our teeth are right there in our mouths for everyone to see!
Why Are Teeth Important?
Teeth are important for two main reasons:
- Eating: We use our teeth to bite and chew food. Without teeth, it would be hard to enjoy our favorite meals!
- Speaking: Teeth help us make sounds. Some words need our teeth to be pronounced correctly.
Fun Fact!
Did you know that when you were younger, you had baby teeth? These teeth help you eat, but as you grow up, they eventually fall out and are replaced by bigger adult teeth!
Taking Care of Your Teeth
It’s super important to take care of your teeth. Here are a few tips:
- Brush your teeth twice a day with toothpaste.
- Don’t forget to floss between your teeth!
- Avoid too many candies and sugary drinks to keep your teeth healthy.
So remember, teeth are special bones that we can see, and taking care of them helps us chew, speak, and have a big, bright smile!
